– Aðalheiður Una Narfadóttir, Special preschool teacher/Project manager Department of early childhood (SDCC)
– Brynja Jónsdóttir, Speech and language therapist/Project manager Department of early childhood (SDCC)
– Dóra Magnúsdóttir, Project Manager Education and Public Relation (SDCC)

  • Parent of a child with special needs from Iceland – Guðrún Helga Harðardóttir, Family therapist/CEO at a parent organization (Unique Children in Iceland)
  • Specicalists from Karin dom Foundation who participated in the visit in Iceland– Maya Doneva, Executive Director of Karin Dom and facilitator, Bistra Boncheva, Administrative Director and Veneta Mileva, Marketing and fundraising expert.
  • Parent of a child with Down Syndrome who comes to therapy at Karin Dom. Silvena Hristova participated in the visit to Iceland, she is a   founder of the organization “Life with Down Syndrome”.

Topics that will be covered by the seminar are:

  1. Inclusive education in Iceland – the good example, the benefits and challenges before the system and in our country;
  2. Early preparation of children for transition to nursery/kindergarten/school
  3. Cross-sectoral cooperation
  4. Trainings to parents and teachers

During the seminar there will be simultaneous translation from Bulgarian to English and from English to Bulgarian.

The purpose of the visits to Iceland is, I quote, acquaintance with screening activities, early preparation of children for transition to kindergartens and kindergartens, environment and way of learning and general education structures, intersectoral cooperation, training of teachers and parents, exchange of parent organizations.

The aim of the seminars is to share methods and practices of teamwork between different sectors and the support system for children and families in Iceland, including children with rare diseases.

  1. A short presentation of Karin dom for the participants from Iceland who do not now about our Center
  2. Tolerance campaigns
  3. Advocacy
  4. Screening activities
  5. Early preparation of children for transition in the educational system
  6. Environment and way of training in special and mainstream educational structures
  7. Intersectoral cooperation
  8. Training of teachers and parents
  9. Work with parental organizations
